Stag Stud
I created this design for the SCAD Jewelry Trunk Show with the intention of making a small, detailed piece that would work well commercially while still reflecting my artistic identity. I chose to model a stag beetle in Rhino as a simple stud earring, focusing on capturing its intricate form. Perfecting the spruing process was challenging, especially with the thin legs, but the effort was well worth it for the final result. I’ve made several variations of these earrings, but the ones pictured here are my favorite, finished in sterling silver with a liver sulfur patina to achieve a darker look that echoes the natural coloring of many stag beetles.
