Madagascan Sunset Moth

I designed this project entirely in Rhino and 3D printed it to be lost-wax cast in sterling silver. The ring features a mechanism that allows the wings to move, connected by small rivets; though simple in concept, properly riveting them was a precise and delicate process. At the center, I tube-set an amethyst, chosen for its rich purple tone that reflects the striking pop of color in the Madagascan sunset moth’s wings, creating both a vibrant focal point and an abstract body for the design.
