Queen Alexandra's Birdwing

Sterling silver with enamel, this necklace is inspired by the wing patterns of Queen Alexandra’s birdwing butterfly and reimagined through a retro-futurist lens. Designed to be versatile, the piece features two colorways: one side with bright enamel hues drawn from the butterfly’s natural coloration, and the reverse in clean black, referencing the bold graphic patterns of its wings. Influenced by retro futurism and Alexander McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2018 runway collection, the necklace blends organic inspiration with a sculptural, contemporary edge. Designed in Rhino, 3D printed and cast, with hand-fabricated chain elements and hand-applied enamel.
